🌟 NC Teacher of the Year Visits Swain Middle School! 🌟
We were honored to welcome Heather Smith, North Carolina’s 2024 Teacher of the Year, to our campus yesterday! Mrs. Smith, an 8th-grade math teacher from Waynesville Middle School, visited to see the incredible things happening here at Swain Middle.
We also want to shoutout a couple of our Student Lighthouse team members, Khloe Chapman and Caroline Freshour, who did an amazing job leading Mrs. Smith on a tour and showcasing the culture, pride, hard work, and achievements of our students and staff!
Thank you, Mrs. Smith, for your dedication to education!

SMS is still collecting new blankets to help families affected by Hurricane Helene. If you can donate, it will make a big difference for someone in need.
Challenge for the Week:
Mend a relationship or fix a negative interaction you’ve had with someone. If you’ve hurt someone, step up, own it, and apologize. Don’t wait—this is your chance to make things right.
Every day, you have the power to lift someone up or tear them down. KINDNESS IS THE STANDARD at Swain Middle—because that’s who WE are.
Let’s have a great week this week! Bring in those new blankets, spread kindness, and show what it truly means to be part of this amazing school community.
