Swain Middle’s students recite this mission statement each morning along with the Pledge of Allegiance. This encapsulates our vision as a school. We aim to place students at the forefront of all decisions, inspiring them to be leaders who act with integrity and hold themselves accountable for their actions. We hope that when students leave our school for the last time, they will have taken significant steps toward finding their voice in the world.

I understand that middle school can be a time of great change and transition for students, but I am confident that our school community will provide them with the support and resources they need to succeed. Our staff is committed to providing a rigorous and challenging academic program that will prepare our students for high school and beyond. At SMS, we also offer a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs that help our students develop their interests and talents.

As a Leader in Me school, our commitment to leadership and personal growth is evident throughout our campus. You'll notice student-created artwork adorning our walls and ceilings. Our students engage in various clubs and occasionally address the student body during “Maroon Meetings.” Our Student and Teacher Lighthouse Teams play a crucial role in decision-making processes.

In addition to our academic and extracurricular programs, we also place a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning. We believe it is important for students to develop the skills they need to be successful in school and in life.
